Summary: Compiled by Christopher C. Andrews during his career as the state's Chief Fire Warden, 1895-1905, and State Forestry Commissioner, 1905-1911, the photographs document forests and timber stands, lakes, rivers, and logging and lumbering activities throughout Minnesota. Areas of particular interest include Itasca State Park, Lake Superior Forest Reserve, Burntside State Park, Cass Lake, International Falls, and the White Earth, Leech Lake and Winnibigoshish Indian reservations. There are also several photographs taken near Missoula, Montana, and documenting a September 1908 Chisholm, Minnesota area forest fire. The major photographers identified are Andrews, A. B. Herrell, F. L. Hoxsie, and C. A. Schenk.
